ABOUT THE COFFEE

Kenya Neliza Estate

To the south of Mt. Kenya, along the foothills that roll well below its majestic peak, lie the regions where some of our favorite coffees in all of Kenya are grown and processed. These lands are fertile with vibrant volcanic red clay soils, enriched by a network of freshwater streams. Nyeri is especially well known for producing coffees of outstanding quality.

Despite being considered quite a small estate, Neliza is equipped with its own wet mill, allowing complete traceability back to the farm and increased oversight over processing quality. Custom dry-milling machines created by our exporting partners at Sucafina give small farmers even more access to specialty coffee markets, helping them develop into entrepreneurs in their own right. We’re excited for the future of small producers like Nehemiah, and are humbled to play a role in this direct trade model.
