Mexico Malpaso

Parlor is excited to release our first Mexican offering in several years. While focusing on our task at hand -- presenting this delicious offering with care for our partners' work at origin -- we hope to do our small part to aid victims of the devastating earthquakes which have struck Mexico this past month. Parlor will donate one dollar for every retail bag purchased through our web store to the International Community Foundation's earthquake relief efforts in Oaxaca, Chiapas, Puebla and Morelos. ICF is working with local organizations in these regions to cover short-term basic needs, such as water filtration, and longer-term reconstruction costs.

Angel Perez España is a farmer whose talents reach far beyond his fields. First and foremost, Angel manages three small plots of land, each under cultivation of coffee. As Treasurer and Head of Supply Chain Logistics of the Sierra Mixteca coop, he is developing a quality control program for its 150 active farmer members. Sierra Mixteca broke away from a larger umbrella co-op in 2013 to market their coffee separately and seek higher price premiums based on quality. This microlot comes from Angel's two highest altitude plots, Malpaso and Zaragoza. Parlor's green buying team was stunned by the nuanced cup produced by Angel's coffee, which is composed of heirloom bourbon and typica varieties.
