Mexico Miramar

Melon, shortbread, apple tart

Six smallholder farmers from the hills around Guadalupe Miramar contributed their top lots for this season's limited reserve blend. The cup opens with bright pink lemonade acidity and strawberry candy, evolving into soft pear and melon sweetness with notes of chocolate shortbread and baked apple pastry—a delicious expression of Oaxacan terroir.

ABOUT THE COFFEE

Mexico Miramar

Framed by the Sierra Mixteca mountains, one of the oldest geographical areas in Mexico, Oaxaca exudes history and tradition. Despite increasingly difficult growing conditions, many smallholder farmers still choose to prioritize the cultivation of older-variety Arabica coffee trees.

In our sourcing efforts, we regularly come across new cultivars, hybrids, and Bourbon- and Typica-related coffee varieties. Coffees from the town of Guadalupe Miramar provide a rare glimpse into the original lineage of Bourbon trees cultivated in the Americas. The result is a unique and sophisticated expression of terroir: elegant and clear, sweet and complex, classic and refreshing.
